The ICD Academy for Cultural Diplomacy (Berlin – September 2011) ****** What impact does religion have on one's culture and identity? Can religion be used as a tool for cultural diplomacy or is it a cultural barrier? How is Globalization changing the world of religion? The ICD Academy for Cultural Diplomacy – "Faith, Globalisation and Interreligious Dialogue” (Weeklong Seminar, Berlin, September 19th-23rd, 2011 - Held Parallel to Pope Benedict XVI's visit to Berlin scheduled for September 22nd, 2011) http://www.culturaldiplomacy.org/academy/index.php?en_academy (http://www.culturaldiplomacy.org/academy/index.php?en_academy) "Faith, Globalisation and Interreligious Dialogue" is an weeklong seminar taking place in Berlin from September 19th - 23rd, 2011 to explore the relationship between religion, international relations, and globalization through a program of workshops, lectures & discussions, debates and cultural activities. Each Academy Session will therefore seek to explore the history and development of cultural diplomacy, with a particular focus on the state-sponsored cultural diplomacy of the cold war, and then to evaluate the development of the concept and its application by different actors across the world today. During their time in Berlin participants will also have the opportunity to take part in cultural and social activities and to visit institutions such as the German Foreign Office, the German Parliament, the Berlin City Hall, cultural institutions and Berlin-based embassies.
